La Paloma

My bar has accumulated quite the eclectic array of chachkies over the years... along with coasters, mixing spoons, stoppers, shakers, empty expensive bottles, and full bottles of cheap liquor that no one wants to drink. My favorite mainstay, however, has always been our miniature alpaca Piero. Our proud veteran mascot, he has sadly lived a rather lonely life up until now. He couldn't believe his lucky stars when Valentina recently joined his side. She is from Peru (unlike Piero, whom I suspect might have come from a factory in China...but don't tell him that) and she loves to party. Her festive party attitude makes her feel right at home on the bar next to Piero and the cocktail below happens to be her favorite. As with any tequila drink, beware of how easy these go down ;) Valentina says, ENJOY!

1/4 cup fresh grapefruit juice (or store bought if you're feeling lazy)
1/4 cup reposado or añejo tequila
1/4 cup club soda
1/2 tbsp fresh lime juice (squeeze them fresh, it's worth it)
1 quick squirt of agave nectar

(optional) salted rim

Stir together, drop in an ice cube, ENJOY!

A quick note on crystal decanters: they are not meant to store alcohol! They are only meant to be a vessel for pouring. Crystal decanters contains lead and if you store your alcohol in there for extended periods of time, you could be consuming trace amounts. Not sure if yours has lead in it? If it's super heavy and extra sparkly chances are it does.
